Flow Sports Consulting

Our Story Unfolded
Introducing Dr. Calderon
Dr. Raul Calderon Jr., is the founder and lead sport psychologist at Flow Sports Consulting. He is a globally recognized expert in sports performance, physical education, and holistic athlete development. After decades in academia, He founded Flow Sports Consulting in 2024 to work directly with student-athletes, parents, and coaches—helping them unlock peak performance and personal growth.
His journey began with a deep fascination with how the body and mind work, leading to an academic career of teaching, coaching, and research at top universities, such as Stanford University, University of Iowa, MIU, University of Kentucky, Arizona State University, and Kasetsart University in Thailand. Now, He has come full circle—returning to his first passion: guiding athletes to become not just better competitors, but well-rounded individuals.
At Flow Sports Consulting, we integrate sports science, Eastern and Western psychology, and coaching principles into a personalized approach. Our Fitness 3.0 model goes beyond physical training, focusing on seven dimensions of fitness: physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental, spiritual, and financial.
Our mission is simple:
to educate, inspire, and empower student-athletes to achieve flow states and peak performance in all areas of life.
THE FITNESS 3.0 MODEL
Dr. Calderon has synthesized his decades of academic knowledge and practical experience into the Fitness 3.0 model, which expands the traditional definition of fitness to incorporate seven dimensions: physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, and financial fitness.
The Fitness 3.0 model is designed to help athletes create more flow experiences—optimal states of performance where action and awareness merge:
-
Definition of Flow: Complete absorption in activity, energized focus, transformed sense of time, balance between challenge and skill
-
Stages of Flow: Struggle with the task, Release from the task, Enter the flow state, Recover post-performance
-
Application: Techniques to recognize and facilitate flow state conditions
-
Integration: Harmonizing the Athlete (Knower), Process of Action (Knowing), and Performance Outcome (Known) based on principles from Eastern and Western Psychology.
